Basic Online Blackjack Rules and Strategy
Anyone new to the game of Blackjack will appreciate a brief run-down of the rules and strategy. Blackjack is a card game that pits you against the Dealer in a battle of the better hand. In order to win, you must have a higher score than the Dealer, up to a maximum of 21 points. If either you or the Dealer go over 21 points, it’s a bust, which is an automatic loss. Just like there’s an automatic loss, there’s also an automatic win. On occasion, you’ll be dealt a perfect score of 21 through your initial two-card hand. This is called a natural (also called Blackjack), and it’s the best score possible in the game. Not only do you win automatically, you get paid 3:2 instead of the standard 1:1 payout for all other wins.
Most of the time, you won’t land Blackjack right off the bat. Instead, you’ll need to build your hand to make sure it’s competitive. There are three to four moves you can make to alter your hand.
• Hit: Add another card to your hand for more points. You can hit as often as you like while under 22 points.
• Stand: Whenever you decide that you’re satisfied with your hand (sometimes this will happen without needing to hit), stand. Your score will be calculated and the winner will be declared.
• Double: Beef up your bet by doubling it and you’ll receive one more card.
• Surrender: Some versions of Blackjack allow you to surrender your first two cards. Half your bet will be returned to you and the round will end.
How to Win at Blackjack
Playing Blackjack casually is always fun, but if you want to win more frequently, you’re going to need to learn basic blackjack strategy. Every hand combination vs. Dealer upcard possible has been analyzed by experts for optimal results. All you need to do is memorize the prescribed action for every scenario. These strategy charts can be found online and in casino gift shops. Simply make sure the one you’re using matches the game you’re playing. The actions vary depending on the number of decks being used and whether the Dealer hits or stands on soft 17s. Put up a chart by your computer and use it while playing Blackjack on Practice Play mode. Soon enough, the actions will become second nature to you.
Most Popular Online Blackjack Games
When you go to a brick-and-mortar casino, you may only have one or two options for Blackjack games. If you play Blackjack online, however, it broadens your options substantially. We have nine versions of online Blackjack and a live dealer version too, so you’ll always get to pick the Blackjack that suits your tastes.
Our most popular version is our six-deck Blackjack, which is simply called Blackjack. When looking at all the options, this version is the one with a blue background (although you can change the background color). You can also choose between three different styles for the deck of cards, and use toggles for sound, music and labels. In addition to offering the rules in the game menu, there are also three tutorials to help you learn more about Blackjack.
In second-place on the Blackjack popularity rankings, we have Single Deck Blackjack. It’s getting harder to find good Single Deck Blackjack out there. Quite often, the odds will be cranked in the house’s favor by changing the Blackjack payouts to 6:5. Our online version of Single Deck Blackjack uses the standard 3:2 payout for getting a natural, meaning you’ll get $15 from a $10 wager instead of $12 like you would with 6:5 Blackjack.
Our third-most popular version of Blackjack is Double-Deck Blackjack. Enjoy the benefit of having a Dealer stand on soft 17s and the lower house edge that comes from playing with fewer decks. You may not get to surrender your hands, but you’ll have a great shot at hitting some win streaks.
After the traditional Blackjack games, our Perfect Pairs version gets the most action. This is standard Blackjack with a bonus side bet. Put some money on the Perfect Pairs betting circle and you’ll get paid between 6:1 and 25:1 for landing a pair right off the bat. Not even our 3:2 Blackjack payout can beat that.
